Alhambra Model : 7P A,
Alhambra came up with a new spirit, new design 7PA, new head stock with A logo, new Rosette (again? YES), new Label & better clarity & balance sustain tones as compare to the past 2012 shipments. When buying a new guitar, beside reasonable price tag you may want to ensure you will get the LATEST version AND fresh new stock with the quality sound as it is expected. Alhambra transforming themselve with their NEW SPIRIT in mid of 2012 and upgraded this model with some product improvements & innovativeness in many design & production aspect. Check the below detail report analyses carefully to understand this model (and it's evolution) better before you will buy it.
Solid Abeto (German Spruce) top, solid P=Palosanto / Indian Rosewood Back and Side, with the latest neck-enforcement using carbon-fibre insert technology (from now on you can forget the traditional ebony neck insert which was traditional reinforcement technique in the past decades), the latest 2014 direct shipment came with more awesome & profesional gothic rosette design and new bridge top ornament, the bindings are rosewood with yellow and black multiple linings makes this guitar looks very awesome !
The model 7P A have the same specification like model 7P, the entry model for All-Solid-Woods series. With solid German spruce top in almost perfect 1mm each parallel sharper grains, it is an assurance a more serious classic guitar. As the result, model 7P A offer you more powerful treble resonance with the top, clearer pitch frequency in every single strings/fret, longer trebles & bass sustain and balance tones across strings. When it is inspected out of the box, we feel this model has it’s strong characters & souls (unlike the lower laminated models) and in the long run it may promise you for more decent sound improvement over the time if you maintain & keep it in proper condition.
All model 7P and it's derivatives models are the entry level of Alhambra guitars with all solid woods construction, it deserves to get your attention if you like to upgrade into a serious guitar. The letter P is stand-for Palosanto or Rosewood in English, the A letter after P is stand-for Abeto (solid Spruce) top. The Model 7 has sharper & lively Indian Rosewood grains than all the lower models. I observed it has sharper refinement scalloped internal bracing top & back, vertical side bracings enforcement (stronger inner cavity construction for more powerful projection), sharper & more uniform grains top (either the Cedro or Abeto top) and the end result : more trebles harmonics frequency or higher head-room for tone coloring. I personally find the mid tones are well define sound, more lively and the lower bass have more power and longer sustain. Overall this is the starting level of the serious models.
The 2014 new model 7P A delivery & 2013 multiple deliveries status
Recall the previous delivery after Lunar New Year holiday (early Feb 2012) were all SOLD-OUT in March 2012, recall in Feb 2012 batch of shipment the model 7PA has 2012 unique red rosette design (perhaps inconjunction with the beginning of the dragon lunar new year color tradition? but unsure about that coincident, you may take it as "special red rosette edition"). Starting April 15th 2012 delivery, you will see the all new 7PA model. We experienced once it was opened & tuned out of the box, the 7P A immediately offer decent sound and becoming beter & better in each every hours after you played it. I found there are sound quality refinement / improvement as compare to previous years of shipments. We uploaded more photos so you can compare between 7PA version in Feb 2012 and 7PA latest version on 15th April 2012 shipment. A few key features differences are clearly highlighted on each pictures. We put "OLD" when it refers to Feb 2012 version and "NEW" refers to current April 2012 shipment. The "OLD" one is no longer orderable or obsolete 7PA version. Although it maybe the same 7PA model but the guitar's features & future resale value willl surely going up along with the version you bought from.
Who said that Alhambra never put improvement year on year on every models ? this is just one the many proof list.
The 2014 7P A physical traits
Perfect workmanship & world class polish/ super shiny gloss finish that is my first impression on 7P A came with sharper solid rosewood grains quality than the lower laminated models. This is the model which you can find multiple of vertical bracings enforcement on every sides of the inner guitar’s side body, a guarantee of much firmer body cavity construction which will translates into longer projection & more power. The inner kerf to the top and back are made of better solid woods (seems like Mahogany kerf) which will add-on the stiffness overall body structure. The scalloped bracings top & back are shaped more aerodynamically ensuring smoother acoustic wave propagation toward the sound-hole. Alhambra 7PA inner bracing top consist of 7 sharp pointy (scalloped) bracings similar to the old-Spain-school of Antonio Torres with addition 2 lateral smaller stopper fins each to stop brace no 1,2,3 and 5,6,7 (similar to Hauser I). Alhambra crafted carefully the semi-D shape neck on this model, ensure swift handling & more comfortable play. The smooth gloss neck finish add my comfort feeling that yes it is a decent made guitars, you shall agree with me to treasure good feeling when your left hand hold the neck. The neck thickness is 22mm and nut width = 52.4 mm, the strings spacing = 42.4mm. The New April 2012 version have brand new rosette with green/red of gothic ornaments. This is the starting model in 2012 which use Alhambra Gold chrome head-machines with bigger version of "A" embosed logo at the top of each head-machines. You can check-out on the pictures the exact head machines differences between Feb & April 2012 delivery. The last version have big A (pearl inlay) logo on the head stock. You will no longer see the ebony stripe insert at the rear neck because it has been sun-set from factory and be replaced with new technology the carbon-fibre insert to ensure the neck's stiffness over time, overall it adds the value & graceful looks of this model 7P A.
