Martinez Advance Series (factory made) model MCG-95S, solid German Spruce top, Indian/Javanese Rosewood back and side and rosewood fretboard, gold chrome with pearl head machines. Full bindings & double yellow linings, cow bone saddle.
The Martinez model 95S is a new release end of year 2011 model that have never produced in previous years before, specially design Martinez embossed logo on a spruce wood label glued in vertical position. At a glance, it looks a normal tidy spruce top with rosewoood back guitars but when you see the inner workmanship, you will see some differences. The neat construction & low cut shape of neck hill which is the anchor of the neck/side joint, the selection of quarter sawn spruce bracing, the shapes & location of bracings itself remind me it is similar to the hand-made guitars.
The sound wise is amazingly one of a kind, every single note plucked from the strings feels like to explode & radically resonance well with the top (a dream guitar). This model challenge the typical Japanese and Spain hand made classic guitars which normally 2 to 3 times pricier than this price tag. Being as a classical guitarist myself, I am not exagerating my assessment if this model in overall is very nice to play with strong characteristic of very deeply resonate with the top produces ringing, sharp & clean high frequency trebles. The mid section produce fuller crunchy mid tones (not just loud dull mid notes, but there are some headroom to manouvre it's characters) and superb low, deep & sustain bass tones. I endorsed this model as the most value for money around slightly above SGD 1K, it responses your plucking technique, it has huge headroom to manouvre with all kind of tone coloring you might need to express the classical music. It is a dream guitar for students.
There is one thing which is not suitable with this guitar, do not play any flamenco songs as this is completely a perfect classical tones which will help you well when execute romantic classic, baroque & renaissance music. I particularly like to express my passion in BACH music with this guitar as it can produce well for all the violin partita songs by J.S.Bach, what I personally impressed with Alex, Kenny & Wolfgang in this case that the trio allow us to market affordable yet a very decent quality of classic guitars. I put high 5 superb quality on this model especially on it's treble timbre quality that is super clean, ringing & sweet leaving a lot of headroom for me to express the music in addition the deep & gracefully low bass frequency is very much attach to my heart. A good classic guitar is a guitar which provide you with enough headroom, ample of timbre characters, good projection (not only loud, although loud is another desired factor) and easy to execute what do you want to express about the music.
If I spotted another guitar like this, this is the model which leave me a very deep impression regardless who made it & where was made from. Friend, I am happy to introduced this model for you !
